ETHAN FROME MATERIAL

Dear students,

For our project you will all need to get access to Edith Wharton's novella Ethan Frome. As we have already told you in class, you can use our own CAST book builder page for that. However, if you prefer to do it differently, you have various choices:

ETHAN FROME - READING THE TEXT
You may want to have a paper copy of the book for yourselves.

If so, here is the reference for an original and unabridged version of the novella. Edith Wharton, Ethan Frome. Norton Critical Edition. ISBN 978-0393966350. And here's the direct link to amazon.de for more information.

The abridged version (=easy reader version) looks like this:

It is an Oxford Bookworms easy reader, level 3. The title and ISBN number are as follows:
Oxford Bookworms Library(Stage 3), Ethan Frome, Oxford University Press, 2008. For more information use this link

The complete text is also available for download on http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/search/. You then need to search for Ethan Frome in the search bar. Click to download the book, and then choose the HTML format. The display will then look like this:

If you choose to read the abridged version of the book (i.e. the easy reader) you may want to try and read a chapter or two in the unabridged downloadable version also.

ETHAN FROME - LISTENING TO THE TEXT
Some of you may prefer to listen to the texts. If so, you can listen to or download the complete unabridged version of the book on this link:
And you can download the easy reader audiobook if you click here:
You need to search for Ethan Frome and then choose the file with this picture:

LISTENING TO ETHAN FROME - mobile version
If have an iPhone, you can also download a free version of Ethan Frome to listen to. You will find it in your App store if you search for Audiobooks.  It looks like this:

ETHAN FROME - LISTENING TO AND READING THE TEXT AT THE SAME TIME
In order to listen and read at the same time, you may use this link to youtube material:
The page looks like this:

WATCHING THE STORY
After you have read and/or listened to the novella, it might be interesting for you to watch (some of) the film. It is important to note, though, that the film does not represent all the details in the book one to one. Also the film parts may not correspond to the numbers of the chapters.
